At 2 a.m. on March 14, 2010, groggy Americans will turn their clocks forward one hour, marking the beginning of
Daylight Saving Time (DST).
The federal law that established "daylight time" in the United States does not require any area to observe daylight saving time. Every Spring we move our clocks one hour ahead and "lose" an hour during the night and each Fall we move our clocks back one hour and "gain" an extra hour.
